POC Helmets for snowboarding

poc helmetsPOC is a company based in Sweden that creates different types of helmets. Their line of POC Helmets offers fantastic snow helmets for any type of rider. Their classic design distinguishes them as a maker of practical helmets. In addition to their simplistic but interesting design, their helmet's offer protection that paints a picture of POC Helmets as being a maker of functional helmets. Their models include the Fornix, the Frontal, the POCito, the Receptor Series, and the Sinuse Series.

The Fornix

Poc FornixThe Fornix has a simplistic design that speaks volumes about POC's dedication to functionality rather than extreme appearance. The Fornix helmet model is constructed using the Aramid bridge concept, which means that the Aramid, or strong synthetic fibers, are applied in strings and then molded with a foam liner.

Due to this Aramid process, the Fornix is lightweight but offers significant protection because it easily disperses energy across the entire bridge which makes energy easier to absorb than were it concentrated in one spot. In addition to the fantastic protection POC helmets offers in the Fornix, the helmet is also very breathable. The Fornix offers six vents that utilize a sliding plate to control airflow in addition to the front and rear vents that allow air to flow through the helmet.

The Fornix comes in six colors: black, pink, green, blue, turquoise, and white. The Fornix also comes in three sizes: extra-small to small (52-56 cm), medium to large (56-60 cm), and extra-large to extra-extra-large (60-64 cm). The Fornix is a great helmet for the beginner.

The Frontal

poc frontal helmetThe Frontal, like many POC helmets, has a very simplistic design. However, the Frontal is by no means simplistic. Incorporating three different ventilation systems in a hard shell which is constructed in-mold to give it a lighter weight, the Frontal is both extremely breathable and extremely protective. The double shell of the Frontal model makes it easy for air to move between the two layers while protect against impact from sharp objects. The Frontal offers six vents that utilize a sliding plate to control airflow in addition to the front and rear vents that allow air to flow through the helmet. The Frontal comes in seven colors: black, blue and yellow, blue and turquoise, light blue and orange, pink and yellow, and white.

The Frontal comes in six sizes: extra-small (51-52), small (53-54 cm), medium (55-56 cm), large (57-58 cm), XL (59-60 cm) and XXL (61-62 cm). The Frontal is a very protective helmet that anyone would want in the event of a collision.

The POCito

poc POCitoThe POCito, a helmet specifically created for children, has an interesting rounded design that makes it appear very streamlined. The POCito is made with a softer lining that provides better absorption of shock in low-level impacts. Like many POC helmets, the POCito can easily be adjusted to fit the child's head when it is first purchased and as the child grows. The POCito comes equipped with Recco avalanche rescue reflectors that are a serious safety bonus.

The POCito comes in highly visible bright orange and bright pink that gives parents the ability to keep a close eye on their child as he or she moves down the mountain. The POCito comes in one size but is adjustable. The POCito is a must-have for any soon to be snow-sporter.

The Receptor Series

poc ReceptorThe Receptor is a helmet that is built specifically for those who cannot and will not be contained by one sport. The Receptor is designed for use by snowboarders, skiers, bikers, skateboards, or water-sport enthusiasts and is qualified to protect its user in each of those activities. The Receptor is capable of being very protective due to its innovative double shell and Aramid bridge concept that uses synthetic fibers that are applied in strings made in-mold with a foam liner.

In addition to being extremely protective, the Receptor is built to withstand multiple collisions. Upon collision, the liner absorbs the impact and rebounds to retain its original shape and strength in order to prepare for possible future collisions. The Receptor comes with a kit that makes switching its emphasis very easy and in four colors: black, blue, red, and white.

The Receptor comes in four sizes: small (53-54 cm), medium (55-56 cm), large (57-58 cm), and XL (59-60 cm). Any multi-sport enthusiast should seriously consider purchasing the Receptor. The Receptor also comes in different models that are much more sport specific.

The Sinuse Series

poc SinuseThe Sinuse, upon first glance, looks like a classic American football helmet. It has a detachable chin bar that helps protect the face in potential collisions. However, other than its interesting chin bar, the Sinuse looks like any other POC helmet, simplistic but functional. The Sinuse, like most of POC's helmets, comes with a double shell system that has an EPS liner that provides great ventilation and protection. Ventilation can be easily regulated by inserting an insert that comes along with the helmet. The Sinuse comes in two colors: pink and white, and orange and white.

It also comes in six sizes: extra-small (51-52), small (53-54 cm), medium (55-56 cm), large (57-58 cm), XL (59-60 cm) and XXL (61 cm). The Sinuse is great for someone who wants serious protection.

POC helmets provide great protection as well as a multitude of types ranging from the classic snow helmet to an advanced multi-sport helmet and should be considered a great buy for anyone and everyone.
