Protec helmets
People that enjoy snow sports, enjoy Pro-tec helmets. Their variety of styles, shapes, and designs make for an
interesting collection. Their models include the Vigilante, the Descent, the Riot, the B2 Snow, and the Ace
Freecarve.
The Vigilante
One of the more popular models manufactured by Pro-tec, the Vigilante has
a low-profile design that gives it a very streamlined appearance. The Vigilante helmet model is constructed
in-mold which means that the EPS foam interior of the helmet, a great protection liner, is blown in while the
hard shell is still in the mold. Due to this process, the Vigilante model is lightweight and offers some
serious ventilation.
In fact, the Vigilante helmet boasts 15 passive vents and 2 front goggle vents! In addition to the many vents,
Pro-tec helmets has built in vent plugs which make it easy to adjust airflow in and out of the helmet. In addition
to protective devices installed on this helmet such as detachable ear pads and rescue reflectors, Pro-tec helmets
has also equipped the Vigilante with Trek-Dry® moisture management and Outlast® temperature management which work
together to keep the helmet both dry and temperature neutral.
The Vigilante comes in 5 sizes: small (53-54 cm), medium (55-56 cm), large (57-58 cm), XL (59-60 cm) and XXL (61-62
cm) but can be adjusted slightly due to its BOA fit system that provides a more custom fit. The Vigilante is one of
the nicest models in the Pro-tec helmets collection.
The Descent
The Descent incorporates a low-profile look with a powerfully shaped front
ridge in order to point towards the fact that the Descent means business. Constructed in-mold to give it a
lighter weight, the Descent uses an EPS foam interior that passes both CE/CPSC standards which means that this
helmet will perform well in the event of impact, will be in position to protect against a blow to the head,
and will thoroughly protect the head of its wearer. The Descent uses a Bernoulli Venting System that pulls air
through the helmet by using differences in pressure.
Essentially, the air will be pulled from the areas of high pressure, through the helmet, and out through the areas
of low pressure. This helmet's venting system is effective and useful. Like other Pro-tec helmets, the Descent also
features vent plugs that make regulation of air flow much easier.
The Descent is kept dry through the use of Dri-lex moisture management. The Descent comes in 5 sizes: small (53-54
cm), medium (55-56 cm), large (57-58 cm), XL (59-60 cm) and XXL (61-62 cm). The Descent is a great helmet for any
skier or snowboarder.
The Riot
Fairly new to the Pro-tec helmets collection is the Riot. The riot takes the
idea of snowhelmets and the idea of military shells and combines the two into one very tough looking helmet.
Like all Pro-tec helmets, the Riot is constructed with an in-mold process that allows it to have 7 passive
vents and an internal venting system.
Like many of the other helmets in the Pro-tec helmets line, the Riot uses an EPS impact liner that passes the CE
and CPSC standards. This helmet will serve its purpose and protect its wearer in the circumstance that a tragic
fall does occur. The Riot incorporates Audio Force ear pads that allow the wearer to listen to their favorite tunes
while shredding the slopes.
The Riot comes in 6 sizes: XS (52-52 cm), small (53-54 cm), medium (55-56 cm), large (57-58 cm), XL (59-60 cm) and
XXL (61-62 cm) but can be adjusted slightly due to its BOA fit system that provides a more custom fit. The
Vigilante is one of the nicest models in the Pro-tec helmets collection.
The B2 Snow
The B2 Snow is built with the serious rider in mind. Aesthetically, it has
no extreme flare and seems pretty simplistic. This helmet is built for performance. The B2 Snow is made with
high-density injection molded ABS, a strong thermoplastic. The B2 snow is prepared for any collision due to
its incorporation of a "Multi Impact" liner.
Upon collision, the liner absorbs the impact and rebounds to retain its original shape and strength in order to
prepare for possible future collisions. In addition to its powerful protective services, the B2 Snow has 15 screen
vents that offer plenty of helmet ventilation. As if the helmet wasn't advanced enough already, there is the option
of incorporating Audio Force ear pads so that the wearer can rock out while bouncing off trees like that was no big
deal.
The B2 Snow comes in 4 sizes: small (53-54 cm), medium (55-56 cm), large (57-58 cm), and XL (59-60 cm). The B2 Snow
is probably the most protective helmet in the collection.
The Ace Freecarve
The Ace Freecarve is one of the most popular helmets for snow-sport
enthusiasts. Its modern, stylistic design gives it a very interesting, but not over-the-top appearance. The
helmet, like the B2 Snow, uses a high-density injection molded ABS which offers significant protection from
potential blows. In addition to a hard outer shell, the Ace Freecarve uses an EPS impact liner which protects
against serious blows.
The Ace Freecarve has fewer ventilation holes than other models. It sports a front slide vent system with rear
exhaust vents. Although there are fewer vents, the ventilation system is still plenty effective. Like the B2 Snow
and the Riot, the Ace Freecarve has the option of incorporating Audio Force ear pads.
The Ace Freecarve comes in 4 sizes: small (53-54 cm), medium (55-56 cm), large (57-58 cm), and XL (59-60 cm). The
Ace Freecarve offers great features and is a great buy.
Overall, the Pro-tec helmet collection is a fantastic, protective, technologically, advanced set of protec helmets
that any person looking to get out on the slopes should look into.
